A first trip back to Johannesburg for Vermaak Equine yielded some high-level purchases despite the strength of the market. With a select group of top end lots on offer and a large buying bench hunting for the very best, a high-priced sale was on the cards. The auction averaged just under R650,000 just as the RCS Premier Yearling Sale held earlier in March. The two premier sales fetching these numbers show the strength of the bloodstock industry at present. Vermaak Equine signed tickets to the value of R11,100,000 for its 13 purchases. This figure was only topped by Jonathan Snaith at R16,900,000 and Form Bloodstock at R29,650,000 which is customary for the BSA National Sale.
